Al Nino Capangpangan (Nino)
Head of Safety and Trainings, APA
Born and raised in Cebu, Philippines, Al Nino (or “Nino,” as his friends know him) has spent over 15 years in the outdoor industry, where his passion for adventure and easy-going nature have made him a highly respected facilitator and manager.
Nino has designed and led experiential and adventure-based team-building programs for both corporate and youth clients, always aiming to create meaningful, transformative experiences. He is also highly skilled in technical setups for high elements and holds a range of qualifications, including BCU UKCC Level 2 Coaching Paddlesports, ISA Flat Water SUP Coaching, Rescue 3 Technician, and Wilderness First Responder.
In his free time, Nino is an avid SCUBA diver and a certified BSAC Instructor, constantly seeking out new adventures in the water. His passion for working with youth blossomed during his time in the USA in 2007, where he worked as an instructor for Environmental and Adventure Education, and developed a deep commitment to supporting young people with disabilities.
Nino joined Asia Pacific Adventure in 2009 as a freelance facilitator, bringing his expertise and enthusiasm to the team. His role quickly grew, and by 2017, he became part of the senior management team as the Operations Manager for APA’s Youth Division.
Today, Nino heads up Safety and Trainings for APA, where his leadership ensures that every program runs with the highest safety standards, empowering both staff and participants to thrive in the outdoors. He’s passionate about fostering an environment where learning and adventure go hand in hand, and he looks forward to supporting more incredible journeys.
