Man Kumar is one of the breakout local stars of the Nepalese trail running scene yet has only been trail running since 2023. Man Kumar was born in Thabang, Rolpa, in a small farming village in western Nepal. He spent his early years helping on the farm, grazing cattle, and walking long distances through the hills.

It was in Pokhara that he first heard about trail running in 2023. Out of curiosity, he signed up for a 55 km race and with little training he completed it with strong results and was hooked! That one race opened the door to more challenging races in Nepal, where his talent began to really show including a course record win at the iconic Mt. Everest Marathon.

In 2024/5 Man Kumar proved his world-class potential with 5th place in the Asia Championships Long Trail race and a few months later was Top 10 in the HK 100 Ultra, perhaps the most competitive race in Asia.
