Patrick Costelo

Program Manager

Patrick discovered rock climbing twenty years ago in the world-class limestone crags of Catabaco, Cebu, in the Philippines.

The more he climbed, the more he realised that he wasn’t destined to work in a cube. So in 2015 he quit his corporate job and got the first climbing-related job he could find as a rope access technician in Macau.

In 2019 he joined APA as an outdoor facilitator for youth programs, where he finally found his niche. Being active in the experiential learning youth programs has allowed him to share his passion for adventure and the outdoors, which he argues are the best avenues to teach kids life skills.

Aside from specialising in high elements, Patrick is also certified as a British Canoe Union Paddlesports Instructor and Rescue 3 Europe Whitewater Rescue Technician. He also holds certifications from the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association and Austere Advanced First Aid.

Patrick currently works as a Program Manager for the Youth Division and has been loving the climbing scene around Hong Kong.
