“True navigation begins in the human heart. It’s the most important map of all.”

– Elizabeth Kapu’uwailani Lindsey

The Navigator Overnight Camp is designed for the age group to improve their technical and soft skills as they progress through the week. The group will navigate their way around the waters of Sai Kung using kayaks; island hopping and exploring the vastness of Sai Kung waters. Teamwork, leadership, resilience, and risk-taking are some of the aspects they will build on throughout the week.

Itinerary (Overnight Camp)

Day 1

In the beautiful landscape of Sai Kung, teams will kick off the day with fun team activities while learning about each other and improving their social skills. As they become more accustomed to their teams, they will be given the opportunity to learn basic kayaking skills, water safety skills and camp crafts which they will utilise throughout the week.

Day 2

Participants will spend the day further developing their kayaking skills with a journey around the nearby bays. The group will also focus their time on kayaking rescue and towing drills which will better equip them for the kayaking journey on upcoming days.

Day 3

Groups will begin their three day kayaking journey from the Victoria Recreation Club and end the day at Kau Sai Wan. Along the way participants will have the opportunity to explore local marine life and habitats and develop teamwork and leadership skills. The day will end with camp cooked meals and overnight in tents on the beach.

Day 4

The participants will continue their paddling journey with groups paddling to the next destination, Ma Tau Wan. Along the way the participants will get an opportunity to lead the team and build on their teamwork, communication and leadership skill.

Day 5

On the final day the groups will paddle their way back to the Victoria Recreation Club in Sai Kung. This will be their challenge day as they will paddle the longest on the final day. Teams will have the time to unwind, unpack and shower before departing home from VRC.
